A new study by British and Swedish researchers found that a number of factors are responsible for sexual orientation in both men and women. The results of the study refute the myth of single “gay gene” causing homosexuality. As it turns out, both homosexual and heterosexual behavior is influenced by a variety of genetic and environmental factors. Shared or family factors, genetic factors and environmental factors, such as hormone exposure while in the womb were considered in the study . Worth noting, is that the family, or shared environment had an impact in sexual orientation of about 16% of the women, but zero impact on the men studied.
